A woman from New Jersey stripped down to her nude-coloured bra to cast her vote after being told she couldn't do so while wearing a shirt supporting Donald Trump.
The white-haired lady was asked to remove her pro-Trump hat and cover her shirt with a jacket before voting early on October 26 at a firehouse in Hamilton Township, near Trenton, New Jersey. Jill Moyer, the head of the Mercer County Board of Elections, tried to reassure the woman that she would keep her place in line. "Before I could get it all out, she took off her shirt and flung it around," Moyer told NJ.com.
Witnesses said the defiant woman shouted "Suck my ****," and gave the poll workers the finger. A now-deleted Reddit post showed the woman in a nude bra and silver hoop earrings, captioned, "This is why I vote Trump."
The unidentified woman quickly cast her vote and left before Moyer could call the police.
Jersey's electioneering law prohibits any political materials that can be "read or viewed to identify support or opposition of a candidate," reports the Mirror US. Senator JD Vance, Trump's running mate, reposted the image after it was shared and then removed by author and Kamala Harris stand-in Mark Greene on X.
"What a patriot," Vance wrote, according to screenshots. "I'd buy that lady a beer," one man commented on social media. Not everyone was supportive of the zealous Trump voter. "Why can't people just respect the rules and stop treating the workers with disrespect," one woman vented on Facebook.
"I find this to be ridiculous," another Jersey woman commented about the election procedures. "You are standing in line to vote. I don't believe a shirt or hat will influence who I vote for. "My mind is made up." According to the National Conference of State Legislatures, "electioneering" laws differ from state to state, and many voters are not aware of them.
Before casting her vote, another woman in the Garden State was asked to remove her "Handmaid's Tale" costume, a symbol of reproductive rights rallies, as reported by NJ.com.
In other parts of the country, the tense political climate has almost led to physical confrontations.
A scuffle erupted at a polling station in South Carolina after a Maga supporter wearing a hat that read "Let's Go Brandon," which is a coded insult towards Joe Biden, was told he couldn't vote while wearing that attire.
