Sandwich Girls Roll Royals To Set Up Rematch With D
Sandwich senior Sophia Visceglio gets a step on the defense and lets a shot fly for one of her three goals in a 15-4 win over Georgetown on Wednesday in the second round of the MIAA state tournament.
Being careful not to look past the game that they had to play on Wednesday afternoon, the Sandwich High School girls’ lacrosse team came out with purpose and blew by visiting Georgetown in the Division 4 state tournament round of 16. Led by Ryan Cobban's four goals and hat tricks from Sophia Visceglio and Emma McPherson, Sandwich jumped to a big lead and never looked back in a 15-4 win at DeConto Field on Wednesday, June 7.
Next up is the game that the Lady Knights were hoping they’d get to, a chance to play a rematch with Dover-Sherborn. D-S eliminated SHS from last year's state tournament in the Final Four on their way to the state title. With the bulk of last year's team back, the Lady Knights welcome the chance to exact a little revenge and take another shot at the champs.
