Pub slammed for offering free drinks to women based on their bra size
A pub offering free drinks to women depending on their bra size has been slammed on social media, with one person calling it 'misogynistic' and another deeming it 'seriously inappropriate'
A pub offering free drinks to women depending on their bra size, with the slogan "the bigger the better", has been slammed for the controversial promotion.
A post for the event, which was advertised on social media, said: "Hanging your bra is uncomfortable, hang it up in the shed and let loose. That means you as well boys".
The Woolshed on Hindley in Adelaide, Australia, stated partygoers would receive one free drink for an A cup, two for a B cup and three for a C cup.
As part of the campaign, bras were being hung from the walls inside the nightclub, and a teddy bear wearing a black bra was plastered on the event poster.
The event sparked a massive backlash online, with one social media user calling it "misogynistic bull***t", and another adding it was "disappointing that this was ever thought to be a good idea".
A third added: "It's hard enough to keep drunk men away, then add the pressure of get ya bras off to the mix."
"Was a terrible idea from the get go, whoever came up with it and then allowed it to be shared should be in big trouble, seriously inappropriate stuff," commented a fourth.
Addressing the "concerns" people had, the club has since apologised for the post, which they recognised had made patrons feel "uncomfortable" and "body shamed".
Based on the feedback they had decided to cancel the promotion, and added that all future campaigns would be reviewed by senior management before going any further.
The post, which was shared on the club's Facebook page, read: "We would like to address the concerns that have been raised regarding a recent social media post shared by our nightclub. We sincerely apologise for the fact that the post made some of our patrons feel uncomfortable and body-shamed as this was never our intention.
"Based on the feedback from our community we have canceled the promotion and are workshopping ideas for different promotions that promote a fun, safe and inclusive environment for all.
"Moving forward senior management will be reviewing all promotional activity to ensure that it creates an inclusive environment for all our patrons.
"Your feedback is valued and helps us to create the environment that both our staff and patrons love so suggestions are most welcome."
The Wolshed On Hindley has been contacted for further comment.
