COMMENTARY: LCSC set for the future
There's no solace in defeat in any sport. Most coaches and players will tell you as much. It hurts even more losing in a championship game.
But for Lewis-Clark State, the 7-6 loss to Westmont in the 2023 NAIA World Series title game represents more than second place. It represents a bright future for the Warriors.
This was supposed to be the year. The year where LCSC didn't win the Cascade Conference tournament, the year it didn't advance in the World Series, the year it didn't make it to the championship game. Although the Warriors didn't win the conference tournament and failed to hang their 20th red banner, they showed that for teams hoping to call themselves champions, LCSC is still the hurdle that needs to be cleared.
