"You don't want any lines showing through your dress to take away from the overall style," she explains. "Also, having the waistband dig can be painful and end up losing its purpose when it comes to shaping."

Speaking of no digging, comfort is queen when it comes to shapewear. "Shaping and smoothing are important, but you want to make sure you feel good in your underwear," says Raymond.
