Russell Sage softball centerfielder Arianna Papas was named a Third Team All-American by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Wednesday.

Papas, a graduate student and Maple Hill graduate, is just the second player in program history to be named All-American. She is a three-time NFCA All-Region First Team selection.

This past season, she led the Gators with a .467 batting average, delivering 17 doubles, five triples, six home runs and a team-high 36 RBIs. She also had 12 stolen bases on 14 attempts. Her career batting average of .488 in 100 games is best in program history.

SAUNDERS NAMED ALL-AMERICAN

Union College senior softball player Karson Saunders was named a First Team All-American by the NFCA. She is the third All-American in program history.

The Liberty League Player of the Year, Saunders led the league in batting average (.528), slugging percentage (.764) and on-base percentage (.600). She had a team-best 41 runs and added 26 RBIs, 22 stolen bases and 19 walks.

Saunders recorded a hit in 31 of her 35 games, including 17 multi-hit games.

RPI’S ASKINS AMONG NATION’S BEST

RPI graduate student softball player Erin Askins was named a Third Team All-American by the NFCA, becoming the fourth in program history.

Askins hit .462. She also finished with five triples, 43 runs, 73 total bases, 23 walks, 11 doubles and 18 stolen bases.

UNION’S SANTOS EARNS AWARD

Union College senior Jono Santos earned a spot on the D3baseball.com All-Region Third Team recently.

Primarily a designated hitter, Santos recorded at least one hit in 21 of 32 games, with 14 multi-hit games. He had a career-high .339 average and also had career highs in runs (27), hits (37), doubles (10), triples (1), home runs (8), RBIs (28) and stolen bases (10).

In just two seasons, his 15 career home runs ranks third on Union's all-time list.

SUNY COBLESKILL PAIR HONORED

SUNY Cobleskill senior pitcher Devin Lewis and junior shortstop David Flora were named to the NABCA/Rawlings All-Region 1 Third Team.

Lewis was named the NAC Pitcher of the Year after posting a 4-1 record in 12 appearances with a 2.96 earned run average in 48.2 innings with 53 strikeouts and 10 walks while holding opposing hitters to a .216 batting average.

Flora was the NAC Player of the Year. He batted .403 with an on-base percentage of .503. He finished with 12 doubles, one triple, six home runs, 10 stolen bases, 37 runs and 40 RBIs.

RPI’S MARINTCHEV GETS TWO HONORS

RPI senior Martin Marintchev earned D3baseball.com's All-Region First Team honors, as well as ABCA/Rawlings All-Region Second Team distinction.

Marintchev finished with a .421 average, 13 doubles, 43 RBIs, 89 total bases and 35 walks.

SOURES SELECTED TO ALL-STAR GAME

Siena fifth-year women's lacrosse midfielder Mary Soures was selected to the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game this Saturday in Sparks, Maryland.

Sources is the program's all-time leading goal scorer with 189. She was an All-MAAC First Team selection this season, leading the team with 43 goals.

WALLACE MAKES ALL-STAR GAME

UAlbany graduate student women's lacrosse attacker Shonly Wallace has been selected to play in the IWLCA Senior All-Star Game this Saturday.

Wallace scored 51 goals this past season, second highest on the team. Her 56 points ranked fourth on the team. She received America East All-Conference First Team and All-Tournament honors.

PISENO, PASCALE REWARDED BY ECAC

UAlbany's Katie Pascale and Jake Piseno earned All-ECAC lacrosse honors for their past seasons.

Pascale, a junior midfielder, is the 2023 America East Midfielder of the Year and USA Lacrosse Magazine All-America Honorable Mention. She set career program records in assists and total points this season, along with setting the program's single-season record in draw controls and single-game record for total points.

Piseno, a senior long-stick midfielder, was the 2023 America East Defensive Player of the Year. He set single-season and career records in caused turnovers and earned All-America Honorable Mention from Inside Lacrosse, USILA and USA Lacrosse Magazine.

SIENA’S MARSALA MAKES ALL-ECAC

Siena junior men's lacrosse defenseman Trevor Marsala was named an All-ECAC honoree, becoming the first in program history to be named to an All-ECAC squad. He became the program's all-time leader in caused turnovers, and finished the season with 30. He also ranked fourth on the team in ground balls with 34.

UALBANY PAIR AMONG FINALISTS

UAlbany's Helene Haegerstrand and Graydon Hogg have each been named as one of three finalists for the 2022-23 America East Woman and Man of the Year Award.

Haegerstrand, a senior forward for the women's basketball team, led the team in 3-point shooting and finished fourth in the conference with 14.2 points per game. She was a first-team America East All-Conference selection.

Hogg, a senior attackman/midfielder for the men's lacrosse team, appeared in 11 of 16 games for the men's lacrosse team. He finished third on the team in goals and fifth points, earning America East All-Conference Second Team honors.

The winners will be announced June 7.
